A Flat lash is attached to one natural lash like a Classic lash. So what’s the difference from Classic lash?
It is difficult to see with the naked eyes but the bottom of shape is flat, on the other hand, Classic lash has round shape. This is the origin of the name of Flat lash. Some of you think that Flat lash is flat and there is no curl to it but it comes with different curl (J-curl, C-curl, etc.) and thickness (0.15, 0.20, etc.) like Classic lash.
While Classic lash is closer to the nature lash shape, Flat lash is flat, almost till the tip of the extension which brings you a mascara look or a false eye-lash look.
The difference shows in the weight as well. Flat lash is 3 TIMES LIGHTER due to the thinner size in the vertical as you can see in the image below. This also means that Flat lash is softer than Classic lash.
The image shows that the bonding area is larger compared to Classic lash. In this way, sustainability is much greater than Classic lash.
There are different shapes in flat lashes; ellipse shape, four-leaf clover shape, rectangle, etc. I use Flat Lift-Up lash from a Japanese company, RLASH where their flat lash looks like a compact telescope shape and it has super split at the tip. The reasons why I choose to use RLASH’s flat lashes are:
- The cross section has a slight hollow in the centre which grab and lift up the natural lash. Because of this dent, the sustainability is much longer than Classic lash or other shape of flat lashes. The bonding area between a flat lash and a natural lash is greater and therefore the extension does NOT twist or fall out faster than other types of lashes.
- Flat Lift-Up lash has super split tip meanwhile other companies do not. This is very important for me as a lash artist because I always want to create a NATURAL look without using the heavy and thick extensions.
- Flat lash is more sensitive to the heat which causes losing the original curl. It may go straight or the tip might bend when your face is closer to the high temperature such as the oven, the BBQ stand, using a lighter closer to your face, etc. The great thing about RLASH’s Flat Lift-Up lash is that it is made of double heat coating treatment to make the lash stronger to the heat to prevent these problems.
